Hunter S Thompson — Two

So we agreed on doing something special for each other once a week (or at least try to). This is my something special for this week.

I have already painted Hunter S Thompson for Mack. I think I did it in our first year of dating. Here it is:

My boyfriend's favorite writer is Mr. Thompson. So one day when he was at work I completed this piece. The quote reads: “I have no taste for either poverty or honest labor, so writing is the only recourse left for me.”

So the first painting is definitely better, but keep in mind that the new painting is just a quick sketch.

He loved the first painting, posted it on Facebook and got it framed. It would be really easy to complain that he didn’t seem to like this new painting. Maybe he’s just gotten used to my paintings? I don’t know. Maybe I’m selfish. Did I expect more praise than it’s worth?

I guess the right thing would be to appreciate the painting based on my own perception, not the appreciation of anyone else.
