Chickadees — For Mhairi Munro

Oil(!) on canvas.

Oil(!) on canvas.

So this is the last painting that is for a musician playing my show. I decided to draw Chickadees because, of course, Mhairi has a song about Chickadees.

I don’t normally use oil. It’s scary and unfamiliar. I used the scary, unfamiliar paint because a) I was out of acrylic, and b) I thought oil’s texture might fit the richness of Mhairi’s voice.

It was pretty fun to use. It’s just so malleable.

But I think I will primarily stick to acrylic, ink and watercolour.
